An Update from Margie, December 2016
In this "end of year update," Margie gives thanks for the many ways in which God continues to be at work through the mission and ministry of Loaves & Fishes.
I want to send each one of you my heartfelt thanks for a wonderful 2016. Over 200 people per month are served through this ministry with everything from over the counter medicine to diapers to food, to you name it.
During the summer the children were fed two meals per day with the help of people who gave from their hearts and food pantry and served. We were able to have two "free" garage sales(Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter) because of generous donors and servants who helped with distribution. The residents at St. Cloud were blessed with new and gently used clothing (seasonal) and shoes and other items for free.
December was a great month as we focused on the "main thing". The children portrayed shepherds and wise men even though most were not Christian and we had of course baby Jesus and the manger. It was the best production to date. We were blessed to have the Joyful Noise home school choir come and perform Christmas music and share the Gospel in music and we were blessed with tickets and a bus to take the children to a Christmas production at a local church. It was spectacular. I truly believe that the true meaning of Christmas was proclaimed loudly this year in various ways.
Our ongoing ministry in two apartment complexes to the ladies is phenomenal. Some ladies learned citizenship questions so they can pass the test, others learned English skills. It is always a blessing to see their self esteem grow as they learn new skills.
The children's programs have grown and are doing well. The children have learned many Bible stories and learned how to pray and continue to receive the love of Christ as they come to learn more about the Christian God and His son.
All of the above could never have happened without the Lord and His Holy Spirit at work in and through us.
I feel particularly blessed to have wonderful Christ centered volunteers who give sacrificially of their time. I am blessed abundantly with those who give so that the ministry can continue (some of you know that my hero is George Mueller who ran an orphanage on faith alone).
And above all I thank God for those who behind the scenes regularly pray for the ministry and for me to have wisdom and discernment. There are so many hurting families.
Please pray for:
May the Lord bless you and keep you throughout 2017.
