An Update from Margie, August 2016
"The summer was awesome," writes Margie who serves refugees and at-risk children and families in the St. Cloud and other apartments in the Houston area. It has been a busy summer with lots of volunteers, for which Margie is always thankful. Margie writes,
"Volunteers are always needed and I thank God for the opportunity to meet other like minded believers who come to serve the Lord. I have been truly blessed with some wonderful friendships through this ministry.
The summer was awesome. Several children expressed the desire to follow Jesus and one was baptized. The blessing was that through the love of volunteers from several churches, and her teachers pouring scripture into her every weekend, one child, who at first was reluctant to come out of her home, never went on field trips, etc. gave her public testimony to a group of about 29 children mostly Hindu and Muslim and Orthodox from at least 5 countries.
The children fought over who would pray before meals every day (amazing since most were not Christian) and they prayed beautifully. My favorite was when M. asked God for rain (before being baptized) because she did not want to water the flowers anymore. Within a few minutes a deluge came. The children screamed and ran outside to see the rain. Later we discovered that it only rained in the section where our apartment was. It did not rain in front of the complex or on the back street.
So, much thanks goes to all who came this summer to water seeds and plant seeds. I believe there is a greater harvest than we know. It is just that most of the kids cannot publicly declare what is in their hearts, but God knows.
Continue to pray for Margie as ministry continues through the fall. If you can volunteer or donate, contact Margie.
