An Update from Margie, May 2015
Dear praying friends,
Praise the Lord! The ministry is mushrooming as God provides all that we need through touching hearts, like yours, to give. We had enough supply of snacks and milk and juice to take care of the hungry children until school was out, and then through His grace, we have donors to carry us through the summer and then milk juice and cereal resumes in the fall. Awesome God and awesome volunteers who bear the burden to collect it.
He is our provider! He told me three things when the ministry began, "feed the hungry, clothe the naked and live by faith". I could not do any of that without Him and You.
Several things He has taught me are:
Who is smarter than a fifth grader? Last Saturday, one of the students had to leave class because someone bullied him. He was near tears. As we sat and talked, I explained to him why people feel like they have to bully others and as Christians, we have a new identity in Christ and we believe what He says about us not what people say-something like that. A fifth grader Christian was nearby and said “I don’t worry about people who say bad things to me, I just pray for them”. She said it all!
John 4:35 “You have a saying, ‘four more months and then the harvest’. But I tell you, take a good look at the fields; the crops are now ripe and ready to be harvested!”
This morning in my quiet time, I prayed for the apartment complex and asked God to pour out His spirit there, and to show me the harvest. There is a commercial on television about a Buick car and people say “I don’t see a Buick”. It came to my mind and made me smile, so I told the Lord I could not see the HARVEST. Please show me the Harvest.
Today we gave out donations to families who qualify for assistance and some of the ladies stayed behind to “shop” the donation room. Besides me there were three Bhutanese Christians. A friend of mine, a Bhutanese Hindu lady (whose children told me she does not like Christians) came in and sat down. I started to sing (more like make a joyful noise) to the children “Jesus loves you” and somehow the conversation turned to Him. The Bhutanese Christians started sharing their faith, so I just sat and prayed (I can do that when I don’t speak the language). I asked God to fill the Christian’s mouth with His Words and asked Him to please give the Hindu lady “ears to hear”! Jesus changed her heart. She said she wants to believe and wants to go to church, but her husband does not believe. God is so good and so faithful to His Word. Please pray for her husband and her son that Jesus will reveal Himself to them. (He knows their names). Bhutanese (Nepali speaking) decisions are made by the male in the family. If he is Christian, the whole family is Christian, etc.
Please pray for our summer activities
Some of our current needs are:
Next month we will be signing up the children for back to school. Our goal is to provide each child (last year there were 50) with school supplies, back packs, one pair of new shoes, and one new uniform pants and top (if applicable) and new underwear and socks. Last year with donations, we still spent between $3-4,000. If you are interested in asking your company to donate items, please let me know.
Thank you for taking time to read this and please have a safe and blessed Memorial day weekend. And, please pray for our military families and our country. May God continue to bless America and have mercy on us.
