An Update from Margie, September 2015
Dear praying friends,
Thank you so much for keeping Loaves & Fishes in your prayers. God has been at work in marvelous ways and I just need to praise Him.
In August we were given an apartment to hold ESL classes for Muslim ladies. We were not asked to pay rent or electric bills. But, a battle seemed to begin just as it did for our first apartment 4 years ago. We were moved three times in a little over a month, but the Lord was one step ahead (as always). He placed a Christian at the new complex who would notify each lady where our new location was. We did not lose many students because of this. Just last week, I received an email that the new manager supports us having the apartment and we can stay there (I had even offered to pay rent if needed but none is required. Praise the Lord).
ESL classes seem to suggest professional teachers, not volunteers, and maybe expectancy of certificates for graduation and a tax write off for attending "school". So our classes have a new name "Conversational English Groups".
We have developed some bonding with the newly arrived Muslim refugees who were targeted for either working for Americans or working for our Armed servicemen as interpreters. Their stories of persecution are horrific as you can imagine.
We have three Conversational English groups now one on Monday, one on Tuesday and one on Thursday. The donation room is open twice per week, and we have been blessed to help the newly arrived refugees and our Bhutanese friends with toiletries, diapers, clothing for children, school supplies, back packs and school shoes. That is because you GAVE.
Please pray for wisdom for a new branch of Loaves & Fishes. It is medical missions. A licensed physician is praying about coming once per week to see at risk patients who don't have insurance and building relationships with the community.
Praise God for volunteers who came and had a "free garage sale" at St. Cloud last Saturday to help all of the residents. It was a lot of work (as most of you know) but the Lord gave them some beautiful Houston weather.
Praise God for the Chinese home group that has faithfully come for years to teach the children on Saturdays and now are doing some tutoring. What a blessing.
Praise God for the volunteers who come on Sunday to sow into the lives of pre teens and teach them the way of righteous living.
For all who gave, prayed, came to volunteer, please accept my gratitude from the bottom of my heart. There is no way none of the above would have happened without you.
Thank you for taking time to read this. God bless you Margie
