One Easy Way to Support Local Missionaries this Summer
Here in the South, we pride ourselves on potlucks, casseroles, and our ability to feed people well. This summer, let's put that Southern hospitality to good use by feeding the Mission Centers of Houston's Summer Missionaries.
Starting this May, Mission Centers of Houston’s summer missionaries( aka "critters") will be arriving from Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee to volunteer in our communities for the months of June and July. Can you, your church, small group or business help provide meals for a group of dynamic college students who are volunteering with Mission Centers of Houston this summer?
If you’ve ever met college students, you know how important providing meals can be. Offering meals to Mission Center’s summer missionaries enable them to be trained and serve thousands of people of all ages and circumstances with the love and hope that only Jesus can provide.
Individuals, Sunday School classes, businesses, families, or small groups can support the hard-working students coming in for the summer to bring help and hope to Houston. These college students are working hard at Mission Centers of Houston, so they've worked up an appetite. And as you know for most college students, food means a lot to them.
If you eat a meal with them, you can meet and support these young adults who have committed their lives to Christ. They are bright, eager, dedicated, and hard-working. Summer in Houston is not for the faint of heart at its best. Add kids, teens, and seniors to every day, and it can be exhausting.
But the impact these volunteers have is essential to those they serve:
Let’s make sure the "critters” are encouraged and well-fed. Sign your group up for a meal, and you can join them around the table as well! All the information you need can be found on their Meal Train below.
Lunch ideas may include pizza, sandwiches, subs, Chick-Fil-A, fried chicken, casseroles, etc. Chips, sides, and desserts are great bonuses as well. Of course, you can bring something homemade, but delivery works just as well. So long as the meal is filling and meets the needs of the teams, they are happy to have it.
If you would rather make a donation or provide a gift card(s) to help provide a meal please contact Laura Fernandez at laura@missioncenters.org or 832-746-9050.
Please prayerfully consider providing a meal for them! Without your help, we could not provide this summer missions experience to our awesome interns!
Thank you for helping Mission Centers of Houston as they work to bring transformation to inner-city Houston through the love of Jesus! We are grateful for your faithful prayers, encouragement, and support.
