Welcoming New Staff Members!
UBA is excited to introduce you to the five new staff members who have joined the team within the last couple of months! The addition of two administrative staff and three African-American church consultants will be valuable as UBA seeks to assist churches in their work. Join us in welcoming Briana, Alba, Lawrence, Bryant, and Mike to the UBA family!
Abundante Generosidad
Una iglesia generosa es una iglesia en misión. El crecimiento explosivo de Houston, requiere que nuestras iglesias (grandes y pequeñas) sean iglesias abundantemente generosas.
Arabs in the Shadow of Israel by Tony Maalouf
Sally Hinzie, UBA Church Consultant, is an avid reader and a practical thinker. She condenses selected books into a quick, easy to read set of “Book Notes” that offers you the opportunity to determine if this is a topic that you’d like to study further. This week's edition reviews Tony Maalouf's Arabs in the Shadow of Israel: The Unfolding of God’s Prophetic Plan for Ishmael’s Line.
Journaling for Your Spiritual Health
If you've ever tried it, you likely already know about the benefits of journaling. Every day, we have these experiences with potential for strengthening our walk with God. However, we're often too close to the experiences to process their impact. Capturing these lessons and reflections on paper creates a sort of snapshot allowing us to explore how God is at work.
Even if you’ve never practiced journaling for spiritual reflection before, we've got a few prompts to help you get there.

What Do You Do All Week?
If you ask me today, “What do you do all week?” and then again next week, the answers will probably be different. It’s just one of the many reasons I love working for UBA. Like everyone else on the team, I love churches. I love bringing them together, and I love helping them share the love of Jesus effectively. It takes all of us working together to reach our city. It’s why we’re better together.
Living at a "Seam of History"
If we are honest, most of us American Christians think of our country as the home of Christianity. That, however, is not the case. Each time we hit one of these seams of history, the cultural center, the gravity of the religion, shifted and moved. Today, it is shifting again. Now, the question is, why does that matter?
Pastoreando a Tu Pastor
Octubre es el mes del pastor, Dios creó su cuerpo que es la iglesia para que Cristo mismo sea la cabeza (Efesios 1:22-23) así que, si todos somos cuerpo, necesitamos el ministerio particular los unos de los demás. (1 Corintios) 12:24-27) Aprende a pastorear tu pastor.

October is Pastor Appreciation Month, God created his body, which is the church, so that Christ himself is the head (Ephesians 1: 22-23). If we are all members of the body, we need the ministry of one another, including your pastor (1 Corinthians 12: 24-27). Pastor your pastor!
Christmas Already?!
The stores and online catalogs seem to think that October is the time to prepare for Christmas. Soon, shelves will be crowded with wreaths and glitzy tree ornaments. This used to annoy me quite a bit, but after a while, I finally realized that the stores are right—to some extent. October really is the time to begin getting ready for Christmas! In order to celebrate the Advent Season, church leadership must prepare even earlier. So, bring on the Christmas spirit! It's time to celebrate.
